FACULTY and STUDENTS - UC Multicampus Graduate Group in Anthropological/Human Sciences and Complexity - HSC-UC

Our founding videoconference was held on Jan 24, 2005. On March 12 at Irvine we held our organizing meeting of faculty and students (graduate and seniors interested in grad school) from the four southern campus to explore interconnecting research interests and to organize curriculum. Starting fall, 2005, we offer a common colloquium series to be held twice monthly through videoconferencing, in which multiple campuses can easily participate, and one meeting each quarter at UC Irvine or another campus. Fridays, 1:30-2:50, is the tentative date for the fall videoconference, which has a different course number and title on each campus. The F-W-S series is a 4 unit course offering.

The focus of the colloquia and joint conferences will be the presentation of cutting edge or current research by faculty and students. Powerpoint presentations are useful in this context and prove superior to the use of website presentations. Turn microphones off at your desk or site unless you intend to speak because the mike activates camera zooms between sites.
