/Transform /Visual Bander
click to enter your variable into the Variables to band window
click on the variable name: you will see a visual image of the spread for the variable
(x) for Equal Intervals: /Make cutpoints
enter lowest value in box
enter number of cutpoints in box
press the ENTER key
/Apply
(if the banding is what you want press OK)
